PrivacyForged publishes plain-English guides and reviews on online privacy and security. We cover the questions people actually search for: how to remove your information from the internet, which privacy tools are worth paying for, how scams and online threats work, and what to do when something goes wrong.
What We Cover
- Privacy: data brokers and people-search sites, data removal services, identity protection, doxxing, cyberstalking and scams. Start with our guide to removing your information from the internet.
- Best VPN: what VPNs, proxies and Tor do, and when each one makes sense. See proxy vs VPN.
- Blog: everyday security and safe-online-living guides, from password managers and financial data security to netiquette.
How We Research and Write
Our aim is that you can check every important claim yourself.
- Primary sources first. We use official company pages, government and court documents, academic or standards-body publications, and recognized independent testers, and we link to them in each article.
- Prices and features are checked and dated. Each guide shows when it was last updated. Prices change often, so we tell you to confirm before you buy.
- We say what we did and didn’t do. If an article is based on published research and not our own hands-on testing, we say so.
- Plain language. We write for someone who isn’t a security expert, and we explain terms the first time we use them.
- Safety content gets extra care. Guides on topics such as stalking and doxxing include safety notes and links to support organizations, and we remind readers when something is general information and not legal advice.
Our Editorial Standards
- Accuracy over speed. We update articles when facts, prices or laws change, and we would rather say “we couldn’t verify this” than guess.
- Independence. A company can’t pay to change what we write about its product. If a page ever includes links that earn us a commission, we will say so on that page.
- Fair reviews. We list where a product falls short as well as where it works well, and we note the limits of any test results we cite.
- No fear tactics. We try to give realistic advice, not worst-case scare stories.
Corrections and Feedback
We make mistakes, and we want to fix them. If you spot something wrong, outdated or unclear in an article, please tell us through our contact page. Include the article link and what you think should change. We review every report and correct confirmed errors.
Not Professional Advice
Our guides are for general information. They are not legal, financial, medical or professional security advice. For legal questions, talk to a lawyer. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
